A BVI beauty, Abigail Hyndman is a new British Virgin Islands title holder who has been chosen as the new Miss British Virgin Islands 2011 during the final event held at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex on 31st July, 2011 in Road Town.
Abigail Hyndman will be the official entry of British Virgin Islands in Miss Universe 2012 competition next year.
Ciara Christian is the first Runner-up, Shanett Browne is the Second Runner-up while Abigail Hydman is the winner of the BVI 2011 beauty pageant winner.
Washeema Guishard, the most favorite for the crown received numerous major and minor awards winning Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Best BVI Promo and Talent, Best Swimwear and Best Evening Wear. She is also voted as the winner of the LIME Miss Popularity contest. Surpringly she was not placed in the top three semifinalists.
In answer to the final question, 'Do you agree with the proposed curfew
implementation by the ministry of Education and Culture?' Abigail said, "I do agree with the curfew implementation by the Ministry of Education and Culture. I believe that the Ministry of Education has our best interest in slight safety. It is imperative that all of our students are home at a decent hour. It is imperative that our students are home doing their school world."
Abigail Hyndman said, "My journey to receiving the crown was a very long and emotional one. The second that they called my name as the winner, a mixture of emotions just came pouring out. It was that of joy and contentment."
"I know I did well. Everyone was shocked that my name was called, but I just had faith in God. It was my life-long dream to be a queen, and I am blessed that the people of the British Virgin Islands have welcomed me with open arms to participate in this pageant." she said when asked her if she was surprised to be crowned the winner.
In the event that was themed, "A Royal Affair ', the Women are judged on their introduction, swimwear, cultural costume, talent / BVI promotion, evening wear, question and answer in the evening as well as presentation and an interview before pageant. Winner of the title the new Miss BVI takes home a trophy, $ 10,000 cash prize, academic scholarship from the BVI Government, a one-year gym membership, Miss British Virgin Islands official wardrobe, bag, jewelry, a trip to the BVI tourist Board and other gifts Wanted.
