Irina De Giorgi: Miss Earth Switzerland 2011

Irina De Giorgi, aged 21, is set to represent Switzerland in the world-wide heats of the eco beauty contest Miss Earth 2011 at Manila, Philippines on 3rd December, 2011. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Impact, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. However the pageant organizers decided to move the pageant back to the Philippines due to the Massive flooding in Thailand. Irina Giorgi has been crowned Miss Earth Schweiz 2011 at the gala held on June 5, 2011 in Zurich.

Miss Earth is one of the biggest and most prestigious beauty events in the world with contestants from more than 100 countries set to take part in December. The winner of Miss Earth 2011 will be crowned in a live televised coronation with the overall winner becoming an ambassador to environmental schemes worldwide.


When asked what is your environmental advocacy, Irina replied, “During this year as Miss Earth Switzerland, I am working together with the organization 'My Blue Planet'. They support many environmental protection projects (e.g. promoting the use of public transport, or making people aware of solar electricity, ensuring a clean earth.)"
